The Inaugural Focus 10K is a Massive Success for Chailey Heritage

The first edition of the Focus 10K was met with smiles all around as people gathered in the warm Sunday sunshine of Borde Hill Garden. Over 600 adults and children showed up for what would be a fabulous day of fundraising.

This event was organised by E3, and we are thrilled for Chailey Heritage at the fundraising total (which will be revealed later), and also at the fundraising potential for this event in the future. Chailey Heritage is a fantastic charity based in East Sussex who help children and young adults with severe physical disabilities and health needs. There are pioneering in their field, and have won awards to reflect that. If you wish to know more about Chailey Heritage Foundation, you can read more about their fantastic work here.

The team from E3 were at Borde Hill Garden bright and early to set up and prepare the course. The race village officially opened its doors at 9:00 AM, but many had arrived early, keen to get their hands on the last remaining tickets made available on the day of the run.

The first race to set off was the Kids Mini-Mile, as around 100 children ran a short course with a pair of Skullcandy Bluetooth speakers up for grabs for the fastest boy and the fastest girl. The 5K and the 10K then set off shortly after the completion of the kids race.

The winners of each race were:

Kids Mini-Mile: Sofia Celani & George Gilbert

Focus 5K: Caroline Wood & Jake MacMahon

Focus 10K: Linda Schofield & Luke Hunt

David Hill of E3 said of the event: ‘It’s wonderful to see such a family atmosphere at a fundraising run. The fact that so many people turned up is magical, and seeing the children running on behalf of other children was really something very special to see. Thank you to everyone for coming, and we hope to see you again next year!’

With the day drawing to a close, and all the winners prizes and goody bags given out, it was time to pack up and head home. We would like to thank Focus Group for sponsoring this event and helping us out on the day, as well as Chailey Heritage whose staff lined the course and offered motivation to tired legs. It was a fantastic day all round, and we’ll be back on June 2nd 2019 for the second instalment of the Focus 10K.

E3 are proud to have produced this fantastic event.
