The Snowman Spectacular 2019 - a Spellbinding Fundraiser for Chestnut Tree House
On Saturday 30th November, E3 Events produced Chestnut Tree House children’s hospice’s annual fundraising Ball, The Snowman Spectacular, hosted at the Hilton Brighton Metropole, which raised over £400,000.
Our largest stage, lighting rig and sound system for an indoor event led us into new leagues of aspirations and Event Management, as well as heightening our own expectations for projects to come.
The Snowman Spectacular set left no head un-turned with an impressive three-dimensional, snowy backdrop, inspired by the charity’s Patron, Raymond Briggs’s illustrated storybook, The Snowman™. This sparkling winter scene was the perfect performance space for the incredible entertainment provided for the evening: Killer Queen, Feeding the Fish, Miguel Santiago, Candy Apple Blue and Keris Lea. Along with the night’s hosts, Allison Ferns and Danny Pike from local BBC radio, celebrity guests included Chestnut Tree House Patrons, Peter Andre and Jodie Kidd, as well as Sally Gunnell OBE and MasterChef 2018 winner, Kenny Tutt.
But the highlight of the evening was undoubtedly the heartfelt speech by Trina Beckett, who explained what Chestnut Tree House’s care and support means to her and her family. Trina’s son, Craig, has a progressive neurological condition which means he is very fragile, has no independent movement and needs constant round-the-clock care. In 2008, when Craig was seven, Trina and her husband found out about his condition and were told that he would probably only live for another year. This year will be Craig’s 11th Christmas since his diagnosis. She talked about how Chestnut Tree House is a place where her boys spend their best time together, and the family can create precious memories to last a lifetime.
With the addition of themed lighting effects, pyrotechnics, glitter cannons and snow machines, we left no snowflake unturned to create the most spectacular environment possible for a successful night of fundraising.
With Auctions, Prize Draws and a Silent Auction boasting money-can’t-buy prizes such as a seat at The Jonathan Ross Show, a VIP Phantom of the Opera Package and a cruise through Norway and the Arctic, this was an evening to remember and the highlight of the local charity event calendar.
